Bagnalls were commissioned by Contour Homes on behalf of the Symphony Group for the internal redecoration at Alexandra Court in Liverpool’s city centre, works included internal painting to doors, stairways and walkways as well as the external redecoration of masonry and windows.

Logistically, the external works needed careful planning as the outer perimeter fencing did not allow for easy access to windows and doors. In addition, special measures had to be taken to manage the safety of the public, as the building is in the heart of Liverpool’s student quarter. The work areas were clearly signed and cordoned off appropriately.

Meeting the needs of all the residents is always an important element of internal redecoration projects and the residents at Alexandra Court varied from students and elderly residents to adults with disabilities. One resident who unfortunately suffers with severe asthma, was concerned that the works would affect his health. Working together with the site manager and the paint manufacturer the specification was changed to all water based products for the walls and woodwork.

The site manager praised the delivery of the works by saying, “I’ve been the manager of this site for over twenty years, overseeing similar projects with at least six other painting contractors, but Bagnalls have been the best so far. Nothing was too much trouble, they have been superb throughout. I would have no hesitation in recommending them for similar works with Contour, or any other business for that matter.”
