Bagnalls were chosen as a Dulux Contract Partner to undertake the painting & decorating works to this major new-build PFI Hospital lead by Skanska Construction. The works included decorations to all parts of the building, from steelwork to atrium areas.

A team of our decorators, led by a dedicated site Foreman, undertook the painting of the initial area of this new hospital which was constructed in several distinct phases. In addition, the scope of the project included the refurbishment of the existing King's Mill Hospital.

A team of directly employed painters from our East Midlands branch were commissioned to undertake this project as they had the necessary skills and experience needed to deal with the main contractor and managing the interface with other building trades on site. The number of operatives fluctuated to meet the programme and the available work areas which changed dramatically from one week to another. Towards the end of the project, rapid acceleration of the works was required to meet the Client's programme. At the peak of the project, over twenty decorators were on site supported by a Site Foreman and Project Manager to ensure the work was completed on time and to the Client's specification. Several apprentices also worked on the scheme providing them with invaluable experience of working on a major new construction project.

The scale of the project meant that decorators needed to be recruited from the local area. Not only did this demonstrate our on-going commitment to local recruitment but also reduced the environmental impact by minimising journey times to site.
