Plaisterers' Hall

Project

Highly Decorative Painting Works to the Great Hall

Plaisterers' Hall is one of the finest Livery Halls in London. Opened in 1972 and situated in the heart of the City of London, it reflects the grandeur of a bygone era but in an ultra modern setting.

The present Hall, opened in November 1972 has décor throughout of the neo-classical style created by Robert Adam in the 18th Century. His various designs have been faithfully reproduced in great detail both on plaster and wood, some being taken from his original moulds.

Bagnalls was chosen for this prestigious project based on its experience as a decorative contractor. Bagnalls heritage dates back to 1875 when the company was established by Alfred Bagnall and the company has remained family owned and managed ever since.

Plaisterers' Hall is now a busy venue for weddings, conferences and functions in the heart of London. To ensure that disruption to trade was kept to an absolute minimum Bagnalls undertook the painting works to a very tight timescale.

The specially chosen Bagnalls site team worked closely with the Plaisterers' Hall in-house maintenance staff and contractors, to ensure the safe removal of portraits, drapes and allow for the expert cleaning of the Hall's chandeliers.

With the kind permission of Plaisterers' Hall the finished project was entered into the National Trophy Awards of the Painting & Decorating Association (PDA). The project was judged and honoured with a Very Highly Commended Award. The National PDA trophy awards allow painting contractors to promote the projects which they have been undertaking throughout the year to the rest of the industry.

Preserving our country's heritage in a sustainable way is key to Bagnalls and this is just one of many projects where we have helped restore valuable historic assets.
