Painting at University of Newcastle – Vice Chancellor’s Residence
Newcastle University is one of the UK's leading universities with a reputation built on the quality of its teaching, outstanding research and its work with the community and industry. As a prestigious university it has to ensure that it maintains its facilities to the highest standards to cater for 25,000 students and staff who live and work at the university. Bagnalls has undertaken several projects at the University from laboratories to lecture theatres. Each time we work closely with Estates and Building personnel to ensure that we deploy the right size team of directly employed painters to meet the timescales and access requirements.
We were recommended to undertake the works at the Vice Chancellor’s residence based on the successful completion of other projects for the University.
An 8 week time schedule was agreed and the majority of the external painting works were completed prior to the Vice Chancellor’s arrival. To undertake the internal works our contracts manager had to work closely with the Vice Chancellor’s wife to accommodate her personal decoration requirements.
In addition, Bagnalls had to work alongside a number of other trades, all undertaking works simultaneously, including kitchen fitters and carpet layers. The project was successfully finished to time and specification.
The Facilities Manager commented “Bagnalls personnel were always willing to help and the site team were well mannered. We can always rely on Bagnalls to undertake works to quality, to time and to budget.”
