Project

Redecoration of Billy Wright Stand

Bagnalls undertook the re-painting of the Billy Wright stand, including the underside steel strips and handrails (pitch side), the roof steelwork at over 100ft in height, the rear stand cantilever steelwork from the roadside, the soffits to the roadside elevation and the corrugated cladding around the club shop.

Although we had a good relationship with the club, having successfully completed the repainting of the Jack Harris stand in 2007, this contract was won through competitive tender.

The Ground is located on a main road very near to the centre of Wolverhampton and so health, safety and protection of the public was of paramount importance. Although the works were undertaken outside of the football season the facilities remained open for functions and weddings.

Eighty per cent of the works were external and open to the elements, which was a significant challenge as the project had to be completed for the start of the new football season. Our dedicated site team worked weekends and over-time in order to meet the deadline. All of the painters who worked on the project were trained in the use of ladders and held CSCS cards, with key members of the team having IPAF cards to drive mobile elevated work platforms. Apprentices employed by our local branch worked on the job to gain valuable experience on a prestigious project. The experience gained contributed to their NVQ qualification in Painting & Decorating.

The customer was highly delighted with the final result and commented "Bagnalls were set a very tight deadline due to the start of the football season. They put 110% effort in to ensure that this critical date was met."
