Bagnalls York branch is working in conjunction with The City of York Council and Dulux Paints to deliver long term sustainability of York Council properties. Bagnalls is actively supporting the Council's aim "to provide people with homes that they want in neighbourhoods where they want to live."

This ground breaking work takes advantage of the significant improvements in paint technology over recent years and leading paint manufacturers like Dulux have developed new products which meet stringent environmental legislation to reduce VOC (volatile organic compounds) levels and be 2010 compliant.

Bagnalls painting personnel are applying and testing the effectiveness of the new Dulux water based Weathershield exterior paints for cyclical maintenance contracts.

Bagnalls has achieved ISO 14001 status and supporting project trials such as this support our objectives for continuous environmental improvement. By working with customers and the supply chain, Bagnalls can have a positive effect in driving sustainability through a quality painting programme. High quality and well managed housing is the cornerstone of sustainable communities and the condition of housing has a major impact on residents' motivation, health and sense of well being.

The painting works will be assessed over the coming years and comparisons made to more traditional paint systems. Lessons learnt that can improve the long term sustainability of the Council's painting programme will then be adopted, where possible.
