Bagnalls was invited to tender for the redecoration of two house-blocks. This involved the painting of the main communal areas and shower blocks in a total of nine wings for both house-blocks.

Acrylic eggshell paint products were used on all painted walls and water-based paint products were used on all other surfaces.

High level surfaces were cleaned and painted from a mobile tower scaffold, a bridging system was also used. Scaffolding was erected and dismantled each day to ensure the work did not disrupt the day to day running of the prison.

All work was completed to CDM regulations, risk assessments and method statements were produced and the project was monitored throughout by Bagnalls’ external health and safety consultants.

All operatives obtained security clearance from Serco to allow them to work inside the prison.

To ensure the project progressed smoothly and on schedule a full time Contracts Manager was stationed on site whilst the high level work was carried out.

Bagnalls has also completed work in other areas of HMP Dovegate as well as undertaking projects for HMP Lowdham Grange and HMP Kilmarnock prison.

HMP Dovegate is a male, category B prison with an operational capacity of 860. It is operated by Serco.
