After a lifetime’s career in the painting industry, Jim Mather has finally put his Dim book away! He could probably spend the first year of his retirement just saying his goodbyes to all the colleagues, customers, suppliers and competitors he has known over the years – given half the chance he probably would!
A fond farewell was organised and many of the staff and site foremen from the North West office made sure that Jim had a good send off. Speeches were made reminiscing on many of the projects of old and quite a few laughs were had. Jim was truly a legend in the painting industry, known well by his Bagnalls colleagues across the country and respected by many of the company’s competitors.
Jim sends a personal message to all “In my 50 years in the trade and with the last 38+ years at Bagnalls I was fortunate enough to never really have a day where I did not want to come to work.
I have enjoyed every minute even though like most I occasionally was known to have a little moan!!! It is great to know that using the firm foundations and work ethics that we have set over the last 38 years the team in the North West are now well placed to go from strength to strength. Friday night was, for me at least, one that will not be forgotten. It brought home to me the importance of having good colleagues but even more so when those colleagues can be called friends.”
We wish you all the best Jim and hope you have a long and happy retirement.
