Bagnalls were chosen as a Dulux Contract Partner to undertake the painting & decorating works to this major new-build PFI Hospital. The works included decorations to steelwork, ceilings, walls, bulkheads, skirtings, floors, handrails, doors, frames, screens and atrium areas.
A team of Bagnalls decorators, led by a dedicated site Foreman, undertook the painting of the initial area of this new hospital which was being constructed in several phases of new build as well as the refurbishment of the existing King’s Mill Hospital, by Skanska Construction.
The new build areas were not open to the public but trying to co-ordinate works around builders, plasterers, joiners and electricians made access and co-ordination especially difficult.
A team of directly employed painters from our East Midlands branch were used on this project as they have specific skills in dealing with main contractors and coordinating with other trades. The number of operatives fluctuated according to the programme and work areas available which changed dramatically from one week to another. We actively recruited operatives from the local area to demonstrate our commitment to the community resulting in additional environmental benefits through reduced travelling times.
During the weekend before the handover to the customer, there were still joiners, plasterers and many other trades working on site. Bagnalls provided over 20 operatives to work the weekend to ensure that the deadlines were met.
