Our lovely new HR Assistant Naomi went to Millthorpe School in York yesterday, to speak to some Y11 students who are interested in Construction. She did a short presentation talking through CVs, Cover letters, Interview skills and how to be best prepared for career opportunities. Naomi also showed them our Apprentice Video which dispelled some myths. There was also the chance for the students to ask any questions they had.
The point of the session was to encourage students to apply for the apprenticeship but only if they were interested, and to give them some top tips in order to help them be successful.
The feedback from the school was very positive:
“Just wanted to say a huge thank you on behalf of Simon and I, and our students, for taking the time to come in today. This sort of engagement is amazing for our students, it really allows them much greater understanding of what the apprenticeship system is and how they can access it. I hope it yields you some applications! We will do our best to support those that choose to apply………we are so grateful to have been included in the company’s outreach and how valuable a learning activity we think it is.”
If you have some potential apprentices at a school, that is local to one of our branches nationwide and you think your students would benefit from a session please contact Naomi
