The Copthorne Hotel is 4* Hotel on the outskirts of Cardiff and boasts 135 high quality rooms. Bagnalls completed the external refurbishment of the Copthorne hotel, in the latter part of 2017. The entire roof was cleaned using a high-powered jet washer with a fungicidal wash, to remove the build-up of moss; then all the guttering and downpipes were replaced and anti-bird deterrent measures installed on all roof apex areas.
The external walls surface was prepped with a fungicidal wash using a high-powered jet wash and filled any cracks that had appeared in the render, this was then followed this with two coats of Sandtex X-Treme X-Posure masonry paint, using colours that had been agreed with the Hotel Management. Safe access to all areas was provided using a combination of full height scaffolding and three different MEWPS (mobile elevated work platforms), which were selected to provide access onto parts of the roof as well as the walls.
Daily meetings were scheduled with the Hotel Management to ensure that works were coordinated to maintain the safety of the guests and minimise disruption to trading. This was particularly important when coordinating the movement and placing of the MEWPS when work was taking place and when they needed to be stored, unobtrusively, when not in use.
The entire project took approximately three months to complete, with a dedicated team of four operatives working on site.
