No – not the Scandinavian noir crime series but the award winning bridge at Canary Wharf, painted by Bagnalls in 2012, to a design by Sinta Tantra.
Six years on and it still looks glorious in the London sunshine.
The bridge was painted by our skilled industrial painters to a Jotun specification for Serco Docklands on the Docklands Light Railway. It was the Canary Wharf Group who commissioned the work via Serco, to realise the vision of artist Sinta Tantra’s design, titled “A Beautiful Sunset Mistaken for a Dawn”. It won the industrial category in the 2013 PDA (Painting & Decorating Association) Annual Trophy awards.
Sinta Tantra said about her vision “Through the use of colour, scale and geometry, I wanted to create a painting which engaged the viewer at different times of the day and different times of the year; a piece of work which made you think about the surrounding architecture, the natural landscape and how we as bodies move along, around, above and beneath.”
Bagnalls has since painted other commissions designed by Sinta Tantra, including an award winning project at this years’ Johnstone’s Painter of the Year Awards
