Mermaid Quay

14 February 2019

Mermaid Quay is a prestigious dining & leisure destination on the waterfront in the heart of Cardiff Bay. Bagnalls were instructed by Jones Lang LaSalle to transform this 150,000 sq. ft centre with a colourful fresh new look.

We carried out these works over two phases, May to July and August to November. To accommodate the early morning to late night trading, we carried out most of the works between 4-10am.

The main works were to clean by power washing, all bare brick and render and applying 3 coats of Dulux Weathersheild Maximum Exposure Smooth Masonry Paint to bring colour and life back to the drab walls. Having coated the walls, a total of 8 signs were then hand painted onto the brickwork.
All structural steel was also power washed and hand-tool prepared before applying an international Paints Protective Coatings System.
All wooden cladding was power cleaned and had 2 coats of Dulux Weathersheild Wood stain.

We used a combination of MEWPs and platform podiums to access all areas, supervised by our onsite foreman, whose key role was to ensure site safety was maintained and oversee the high standard of workmanship we delivered.

Our site foreman worked closely with individual business managers to relay information regarding access to shop fronts, ensuring minimal disruption to their day and business.

We also transformed the external look of the adjacent carpark as additional works.
