The Bagnalls team were thrilled when Lewis Boyle was named the PDA Apprentice of the Year, at the 2019 Premier Trophy Awards, held at Plaisterers’ Hall in London.
The most promising three apprentices from the Northern and Southern heats were shortlisted and asked to attend the painting and decorating industry’s most prestigious annual event. Two other young apprentices, Abi and Megan, took second and third place, respectively, with Lewis Boyle being named the overall winner on the day.
Stephen Bagnall, Group Managing Director, who attended the event, was delighted “Lewis has continued to show promise throughout his apprenticeship, with his win at last year’s PDA Paperhanging competition and now being named winner of the PDA Apprentice Awards, 2019. The expectations and timescales of these apprentice competitions are very testing and Lewis has obviously demonstrated a high level of skill across the board. I must also acknowledge the excellent support Lewis and other apprentices receive from the tutors at Leeds College of Building and of course our own Craft Tutor, Barry Caple, at the Bagnalls’ Academy. I am delighted that Lewis has won this noteworthy award – to be acknowledged by experts in our industry as a promising individual for the future is something to be very proud of. We wish Lewis all the best for his future career with the company.”
