On the 3rd of September 2021, four players of Ellesmere Port Rugby Club set off to complete the UK’s Three Peak Challenge. Sam Bethell (Contracts Manager at Bagnalls), Jack Done, Jordan McGrath and Jake Dibble took on this mammoth task, which involved ascending and descending the UK’s three tallest mountains, Scafell Pike (978m), Snowdon (1085m) and Ben Nevis (1345m) in just 24 hours. The intrepid rugby players managed to achieve the challenge with just 31 minutes to spare due to traffic hold-ups as they travelled from one mountain to the next.
The group have managed to raise over £1500 (three times their original plan of £500) for two charities that are close to their hearts; The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), who run a free, confidential and anonymous helpline for anyone who is struggling or in crisis, and Alder Hey Children’s Charity, who raise funds to enhance patient services and life-saving medical treatment at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
Thanks to all those who have donated and also to Rybrook Volvo for providing them with the use of one of their vehicles to help make the journey a safe and comfortable one.
