Adding Colour & Excitement to Apprentice Learning

25 March 2022

This week saw the exciting relaunch of the Bagnalls Painting Academy in Doncaster following its extensive refit. Now boasting a new Training Academy logo to go with a refurbished canteen, conference meeting room, decorating bays and specially designed mobile painting stands – what more could you ask for? What about a piece of bespoke graffiti art by local street artist Craig Hoyle! Craig has created an amazing focal point in the centre of the academy to catch the eye of every apprentice and visitor who walks through the doors. His piece of artwork captures the passion and enthusiasm Bagnalls has for training and development.

We also took the opportunity to remember our dear colleague David Sunderland who was the Group Technical and Training Manager for Bagnalls for many years. Sadly David passed away last year but his wife Claire kindly accepted our invitation to visit the academy and see the changes we had made. The academy was originally established by David in 2004 to enhance the craft skills of our apprentice painters and decorators, supported by two experienced trainers Geoff Williams and Barry Caple. We are sure that David would have approved of the refit and proud that the academy has gone from strength to strength.

Managing Director, Stephen Bagnall cut the ribbon and said “Our continued investment has created a fabulous learning environment for the talent of the future. Hundreds of budding painters and decorators have already passed through these doors and many have developed into award winners, whilst others have taken their skills into supervisory and contract management roles. We continue to be proud of our commitment to people development and innovation.”
