Wanted – Enthusiastic, energetic, engaging and organised individual to join a small, friendly office team for a national painting contractor.


This is a full-time position, although the hours have some flexibility, by agreement. We will also consider greater flexibility of working days and hours, for an outstanding candidate.

The Role

This exciting opportunity is based in our Bristol office. The main focus of your role will be to find and build connections with potential new customers. There will also be an element of time allocated to maintain relationships with some of our existing customers. You will be using a variety of communication methods including: mainly working on the phone alongside using social media, email, Word, and Excel.


The role will be office-based (at our Bristol branch), but involve a telesales focus potentially for the South West and South Wales area. The successful candidate will require plenty of initiative as you start the journey of winning new business for the company.

Sales Responsibilities:

  • Identifying new target customers through a range of different methods of research, including using social media and over the phone
  • Maintaining relationships with existing customers over the phone and using our bespoke ‘customer relationship manager’ system
  • Contacting and developing relationships, following up as necessary via phone and email
  • Booking appointments with prospective clients over the phone
  • In some cases, working with other Business Development Representatives within the company, to jointly develop opportunities to maximum potential.


Essential Criteria


  • Excellent telephone manner and strong verbal communication skills as the majority of work is telephone based
  • Ability to seek out, research and summarise potential opportunities
  • Good standard of written English
  • Confidence to build relationships at many levels including with senior decision makers
  • Microsoft Office skills and ability to learn to use an in-house CRM system
  • Ability to learn about all aspects of the business quickly, and communicate this information effectively to others
  • Minimum 5 GCSE’s A-C including English


Desirable Criteria

  • Experience within a customer service or sales environment, preferably demonstrating a telesales role
  • Knowledge of using social media for business purposes
  • Understanding of business roles and responsibilities within the building and maintenance environment

Reward Package

  • Competitive basic salary (£16,000 – 18,000 Full time equivalent, dependent on experience)
  • Uncapped commission based on orders – OTE are £26k – £30k
  • Company pension scheme
