Bagnalls Decorates Two Multi-Sensory Classrooms at Firwood High School

13 March 2023

Our team has plenty of experience working on projects within the education sector – and they’re always a lot of fun. That’s why we jumped on the opportunity to decorate two classrooms in Bolton!

Here, we take you through what we achieved on one of our latest projects and who we worked with to get it done.

Decorating multi-sensory rooms

Bagnalls is proud to have decorated two multi-sensory classrooms at Firwood High School, a severe learning disabilities school that creates a calming environment for its students aged 11–19. We wanted to create a relaxing space while avoiding loud patterns, bright colours and other elements that may cause the pupils to experience sensory overload.

Partnering with Dulux Trade

Dulux Trade has a long-standing relationship with Firwood High School. The company created a bespoke colour palette for the school, considering the multi-sensory needs of its pupils by thinking about how complementary tones can enhance wellbeing. The bespoke colour specification includes stronger hues for the teaching wall to capture the students’ attention.

Sustainability was also a key aim. In addition to its undeniable quality, which reduces the need for re-application, Dulux’s paint also has low VOC levels, limiting this project’s environmental impact.

Steve Bethell, Painting Contractor at Bagnalls, commented: “We have been working with Dulux Trade since 1920 and trust in the quality, durability and easy application of its products. Scuffshield was quick and easy to apply and, thanks to its water-based formula, the paint dried in just 4-6 hours – enabling us to adhere to tight timescales and deliver the project in time for the students’ return in September.”

With our experience and supportive supply chain, we can paint and decorate any type of learning and educational space. Find out more about our education painting and decorating services.
