Historic Properties
At Bagnalls we have built a reputation as restorers of historic properties including Grade I, Grade II Listed and properties of architectural interest.
Our painters are familiar with completing highly technical and often detailed work to properties for the National Trust, English Heritage, Historic England, museums, local authorities, Government properties and other buildings of historic interest across the UK. We are familiar with the Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas Act 1990 and will work with our customers to ensure adherence.
Over the years we have received awards from the PDA for work on heritage properties including Souter Lighthouse for the National Trust, Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, London, Honourable Artillery Company (HAC) and Cadw (Welsh historic environment service).
Maintenance painting is essential and deemed as conservation by preserving and protecting the external of historic properties from erosion or age-related damage, as well as ensuring that internals are sympathetically decorated to look their best for residents or visitors all year round.
Due to our long term supplier relationships, some dating back over 80 years, we can source and apply specialist products or discuss the use of modern materials to preserve historic properties.
How we work
We work with our supply chain to ensure we preserve the substrates being painted. We can also colour match by using the original historic palette of the building. Care and attention is taken throughout the process to ensure that the overall finish is as natural as possible and in keeping with the original finish.
Where the application of specialist lead based paint products is required for conservation, our staff are trained, experienced and equipped to remove and apply these safely without risk to themselves or the public.
We offer
We can offer inspection and maintenance packages to ensure that minor areas of maintenance are identified as soon as possible and remedial work is undertaken in a timely manner to limit any long-term damage to buildings. This could help save time and money in future maintenance.
Work can be undertaken whilst the building remains open and operational or when closed, out of hours or during seasonal closures.
Case Studies
For one off local projects, works will be undertaken by the local branch. However, for national refresh programmes and customers with a national portfolio, our Special Projects division will successfully manage and coordinate the works through a single point of contact.
