Bagnalls has been involved in the maintenance decorating of historic properties for many years to ensure their long-term conservation. We work with industry experts to source and apply specialist products as well as prepare bespoke colour schemes to restore historic buildings to their original beauty. We can also introduce the use of modern materials to preserve the properties as many newer formulations have low VOC (volatile organic compounds) content which offer the lasting protection required but have a minimal impact on the environment.
Prior to commencing any work we will work with your estate’s team and our supply chain to ensure that the products specified are compliant with the substrates being painted and where requested we will match the colours used in the original historic palette of the building. Care and attention are taken throughout the process to ensure that the overall finish is as natural as possible and in keeping with the unique ambience of the property.
We will undertake lead test sampling to ensure that if lead is present in the existing coatings, then additional health and safety measures are adhered to during the surface preparation process. We will also make sure that if the property remains open to visitors whilst our works are being undertaken then areas will be cordoned off and signage used to ensure the safety of the general public and your staff.
Our attention to detail and consideration for the customer and the building being redecorated is evidenced by the many awards we have won for the restoration painting of historical projects including the Picton Reading room in Liverpool, the Assembly Rooms in Bath and the Brontë Parsonage Museum in Haworth.
