Bagnalls Redecorates Bedroom in the Brontë Parsonage

25 March 2023

Established in 1875, Bagnalls has a long-standing history as a painting and decorating business. With 148 years of experience, there’s no better company to turn to for heritage decorating works than us!

We’re proud to announce that our team recently redecorated one of the bedrooms in the Brontë parsonage! Here’s a little more detail about the exciting project.

What is the Brontë parsonage?

The Brontë parsonage is a museum that celebrates the lives and works of the beloved Brontë sisters – namely Charlotte Brontë, who wrote Jane Eyre (1847), Emily Brontë, the author of Wuthering Heights (1847) and Anne Brontë, who wrote The Tenant of Wildfell Hall (1848).

The museum, run by the Brontë society, celebrates the lives and works of these pioneering women through literary events, exhibitions, competitions and festivals.

How are we preserving heritage?

Bagnalls has undertaken several projects at the parsonage over the years, with the redecoration of the father, Patrick Brontë’s, bedroom our most recent commission. We appointed a team with the required heritage skills and experience and always take the utmost care by using the right tools, wallpapers and paint products.

Andy Holt, Contracts Manager at Bagnalls, commented:

“We’ve worked closely with the Brontë Society for many years now, making sure that the former home to the Brontë family is sympathetically redecorated and remains in keeping with how it would have looked in the 19th century. The museum welcomes visitors from all over the world, so we’re sometimes required to redecorate the communal areas too.”

Our team is always looking for new and exciting projects. If you’d like to hear more about our services, please call 01274 714 800 or email info@bagnalls.co.uk today.
