Bagnalls Wins 5% Club Gold Award

17 November 2021

Supporting the Next Generation of Industry Talent

Bagnalls is a proud member of The 5% Club, an industry-led campaign that aims to support the careers of young people across the country. To be a member, a minimum of 5% of our total workforce must meet be on “earn as you learn” schemes such as apprenticeships and trainee courses. We are already exceeding this figure with more than 9.6% of our workforce meeting the stated criteria, evidence of our commitment to training and developing the next generation of industry talent and helping people gain entry into a career in painting and decorating.

Gold Award for Bagnalls

Following an external “Employer Audit” by The 5% Club, we are pleased to announce that Bagnalls has met the criteria to be awarded a Gold Award for 2021/22.

Bagnalls HR Director Ellie Jobes commented; “As an employer, we are committed to our early careers population and developing our emerging talent through our apprenticeship programmes, capitalising on our management trainee scheme and developing graduate opportunities. Being a Gold member reflects the importance that Bagnalls places on effectively recruiting, training and retaining young people to be able to secure talent and skills for the future.”

Investing in “Earn & Learn” Opportunities

The Gold award clearly demonstrates our proven commitment to investing in our workforce through a broad range of “earn & learn” opportunities through the recruitment of apprentices, sponsored students and graduates on formal programmes, with only 57 other employers meeting the high standard required for the Gold Award this year.

Mark Cameron OBE, Chief Executive at The 5% Club, said, “It is fantastic that in these challenging times, so many companies are able to commit to the Employer Audit and gain credit for their efforts, and that the majority are striving to expand their schemes over the coming years. Their efforts and achievements are to be applauded.”

Gill Cronin, Director of Operations at The 5% Club added: “Having seen The Club grow to more than 600 members, I am always impressed at the commitment, drive and energy our members channel into offering “earn and learn” skills opportunities. To now see so many of these members gain bronze, silver and gold accredited membership of The Club is inspiring and demonstrates how these companies are all contributing to the future of skills in our economy.”
