The Beauty of Brampton Museum

Bagnalls recently had the pleasure of redecorating the exterior of Brampton Museum in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Brampton Museum is set in its own picturesque park and has recently undergone a full refurbishment. The building itself originally dates back to 1855, when it was a large home to the Mosley family who ran a nearby drapery business.

In 1956, the Borough Council acquired the building and re-opened it as a museum and art gallery, naming it Brampton Museum.

The museum now boasts an exhibition, gallery space and the ability to host various events such as business meetings, local community activities and social events.

Bagnalls was honoured to be selected to carry out the refurbishment of such a storied building, and chose a complementary colour scheme which accounts for the building’s history and age.

We painted all the masonry areas in line with Johnstone’s specification, which ensures a quality finish as well as longevity. Our team used a smooth masonry paint to cover all stone features and applied an undercoat and gloss coat to all woodwork.

The entire painting project took our skilled team just three weeks to complete. All areas were accessed via mobile platforms operated by our trained painting operatives. We signposted and sectioned off areas where work was taking place to prevent unauthorised access by the public. Thanks to our work minimising disruption, the museum was able to remain open for the duration of the project.

The museum staff are really happy with the finish that our team have achieved. A spokesperson commented: “Bagnalls were very easy to work with and we are very pleased with the results. Communication was excellent throughout. The building was open to the public during the project and the team were very happy to work around our daily activities. This meant that disruption to our service was minimal, which was very much appreciated.”
