20 Years of the Bagnalls Training Academy!

Bagnalls recently celebrated an important milestone at our Training Academy in Doncaster. We’re so proud that our team has been able to provide quality support and training to our apprentices for 20 years!

We aim to open doors for our apprentices within the painting and decorating industry, helping them to kickstart their careers and develop the skills they need to succeed.

Bagnalls is committed to nurturing young talent and celebrating the artistic skills and painting precision that our apprentices continue to impress us with. We love seeing the inventive designs our apprentices create within the academy, from an image of the grinch at Christmas to decals supporting their favourite football team.

Our 20-year anniversary highlights our dedication to training the next generation of skilled painters and decorators. Joel Mortlock has recently been promoted to our full-time Academy Tutor, allowing us to increase our apprentices’ weekly visits from two to three, for each year of their apprenticeship.

Joel, who himself began his career as a Bagnalls apprentice, facilitates the development of our current apprentices’ skills. He provides the information each apprentice needs to succeed in the painting and decorating industry, as well as helping to improve their confidence and overall ability.

We had fun recreating some photos from 2004 at our 20-year celebrations. It was wonderful to see the progression of multiple members of staff who have remained with us for 20 years. For example, Dave Boot began his career with us as an apprentice and is now one of our Regional Directors! Similarly, previous apprentice Dave Smith is now one of our Senior Supervisors and Kev Travers has moved from an apprentice up to Operations Supervisor.

You may start your career with us as an apprentice painter, but there are so many opportunities to develop and diversify your skills. You could end up a member of our board!

We also recreated some group shots of our apprentices standing outside the Training Academy. Our 10-year celebration group photo featured previous Academy Tutor Geoff Williams, so we took a similar shot with our new tutor Joel Mortlock with our current apprentices. We’re very proud of our apprentice retention rate, with the majority of our apprentices choosing to stay part of the Bagnalls family once they have completed their course.
