Two of our painters took centre stage when a film crew, commissioned by Purdy, visited the Bagnalls Painting Academy, in Doncaster. Lewis and Abi were asked to demonstrate the skills they had learnt over their apprentice years as well as more recent times as craft painters. Becoming a professional in the painting field relies on many contributing factors including a supportive employer, a CITB apprenticeship, a good local college, and quality tools and paints. Bagnalls works with companies like Purdy and the Painting & Decorating Association (PDA) to promote the expertise of our trade to the wider construction industry, and so were more than willing to offer our academy for the day as a filming location.
Both painters demonstrated how high-quality painting tools, including rollers, brushes, and paint trays, can help produce a higher quality finish. Abi and Lewis were joined on the day by Neil Ogilvie of the PDA and Jane Potter, Manager of the Leeds branch of Bagnalls, both of whom are craft painters in their own right. After several interviews, painting demonstrations and photos shoots, the footage was in the can!
We look forward to seeing what the final films look like. The three videos are forming part of a series that launches later today, which aims to promote the industry and encourage the next generation of professional decorators. The interviews will be promoted via Purdy’s website, Facebook and YouTube channels and the PDA website.
