1997 PDA Apprentice Winner Achieves 25 Year Service Award

21 October 2021

Joe Moore from our Bristol branch joined Bagnalls on September 16th, 1996, recently celebrating his 25th anniversary of work with the company.

He was a promising painter from the start, winning the PDA Apprentice of the Year competition in 1997 when he was in his second year at Bagnalls. Joe has many fond memories of his years at Bagnalls, but he recalls his most memorable job being Drake Circus in Plymouth, which was the first big site he ran managing 20 painters. This demanding project, which involved painting the new build shopping centre for Bovis Construction, took 9 months to complete and involved working away from home. During this project, Joe improved his knowledge of site meetings and developed his skills in site supervision and decision making.

When asked why Joe has stayed so long with Bagnalls he said “That’s an easy answer; Bagnalls is a great company and to be honest, I enjoy getting in my van each morning and going to work as every job and place is so different.”

It’s colleagues like Joe who help to inspire our next generation, and he advises; “When young people want to get into painting, I tell them: the first thing is to enjoy what you do, and the second thing is to listen to your supervisor’s advice and try your best to learn from their experience.”

Thanks and congratulations Joe!
