Bagnalls Returns Four Tonnes of Paint Via PaintCare

Bagnalls is proud of the role we played in the innovative PaintCare trial in the West Midlands throughout early 2026.
As a company, we have been able to return four tonnes of leftover paint and cans via the scheme, of which a minimum of 2.8 tonnes was repurposed or remanufactured, with the remainder being recovered for energy from waste.
By supporting the PaintCare initiative, Bagnalls was able to reduce our carbon emissions, compared with usual disposal methods. Our leftover paint was collected throughout the trial and repurposed to make new paint products. We will also be able to support social enterprises through the newly repurposed paint products.
Across the UK, just 2% of all leftover paint is currently recycled. PaintCare wants to change this, allowing all consumers – including large painting contractors such as Bagnalls – to return decorative paints, so they can be remanufactured and repurposed into new products.
The Bagnalls team is looking forward to championing PaintCare across the UK, by supporting the British Coatings Federation (BCF) towards a full national rollout of the scheme, establishing a true circular economy for leftover decorative paints and packaging.

Bagnalls is committed to helping the BCF achieve a recycling rate of at least 42% by 2032, which they hope to do by recycling, reusing and remanufacturing 75% of all leftover paint.
