Adding Colour to South Western Railway
10 March 2021
Bagnalls is the appointed painting contractor delivering redecoration works for First MTR South Western Railway Limited, trading as South Western Railway. Bagnalls’ experience of this line stems back some 20 years, having regularly worked for the previous franchises, so our knowledge and experience is extensive and ensures that we safely deliver our works for all rail users. Recently, we have been repainting the stations and platforms in the new South Western Railway livery colours, with stations running from Vauxhall and Teddington to Portsmouth and Ryde Pier.
Unusually for rail redecoration programmes, some works have been undertaken during the daytime, as many of the platforms have had much-reduced passenger numbers. Other high-traffic areas still required night working to deliver works in a Covid-secure manner whilst commuters were not using the stations. The busy programme spanning some 27 stations, started in May 2020, will be fully completed by the end of March 2021. We hope the newly painted stations will welcome back the usual throng of commuters and holidaymakers when lockdown is fully lifted.
