Bagnalls Appointed to Refresh Henry Bell & Co Vessel
23 April 2026
Bagnalls is proud to be the national painting contractor of choice for Henry Bell & Co. (Morley) Limited. We provided a quotation to repaint one of their vessels, support legs and conveyor structure.
The Bagnalls team completed a full transformation of all steelwork, applying a modern colour, which was specified by the customer. We also installed a two-pack epoxy paint system, far more robust than that previously used.
The structure has stood in its current position for over 30 years without a refresh, so the surface showed signs of significant moss build-up, algae growth and corrosion.
Our highly trained painting operatives carried out a full pressure wash using a fungicidal solution to combat this issue. This allowed us to identify and mechanically prepare corroded areas before beginning the recoating process.
The team spot primed all prepared steelwork using SigmaCover 350 Aluminium Primer, followed by SigmaCover 350 in the customer-specified colour. We also provided a UV-resistant topcoat using SigmaDur 550 Polyurethane, providing long-term protection.
All painting work was carefully planned around the ongoing site operations, with continued deliveries provided with full access to the silo and associated conveyor throughout the project.
We maintained safe access while minimising disruption by coordinating closely with the site team and utilising a mobile elevated work platform (MEWP).
Thanks to our work, the fully restored structure now has an expected service life extension of 15-20 years. Due to the quality of work delivered, we have since been invited to provide further quotations for internal factory work, block walls, steelwork and machinery.
We’re pleased to be able to carry out more work for Henry Bell & Co and look forward to a long and positive relationship with them! If you have an industrial coating project we can help with, get in touch with our experienced team today.
