Goodenough College

Goodenough College is situated in Bloomsbury, central London. The College is an international residential centre for post-graduates, whose community consists of over 700 students and senior scholars from over 90 countries.
Bagnalls were deemed the most capable contractor following a competitive tender process, having prepared a cost-effective programme of works to maintain the painted building fabric throughout each of the three main campus buildings, to a high standard, over a five-year period.
Due to the scale of the tasks required, the College Estates Team appointed CBRE Managed Services Limited to take on the responsibility of project managing all the maintenance projects across the estate. As a long-standing approved and preferred contractor to CBRE, Bagnalls had proven its technical ability, experience and skillset to deliver the painting works to the College’s exacting requirements.
One of the more complex projects for Bagnalls was to undertake the redecoration of over 200 wooden sash and Crittall windows on the exterior elevations of the London House. The project extended to the 6th floor and scaffold was erected to ensure safe access to roof height. All the operatives were instructed to wear full PPE during these decorations. Each window and frame required pre-paint repairs, using the repair care system, prior to the application of a Dulux Weathershield specification. The schedule also included the metal work on Juliet Balconies and the rainwater goods, each being prepared and then painted with Dulux Metalshield.
The Goodenough Club stairs were completely refurbished as well as 52 of the apartments, which underwent a thorough refresh using Crown Clean Extreme in a light cream for walls and ceilings. The apartments were handed to Bagnalls as they became available. The main influx of work came in September when we had 18 single rooms and a 2-bed room apartment to complete in just one weekend. However, we have the directly employed and experienced painters to manage such high volumes of work in a short period of time.
