Historic Redecoration at West Midlands Safari Park
21 August 2026
The Bagnalls Wolverhampton branch recently had the pleasure of redecorating the Grade-II listed Spring Grove House at West Midlands Safari Park, as well as carrying out some work at the lovely Dino Diner.
We executed a comprehensive external redecoration of this historic building, which was first built in 1790. The project focused on restoring and protecting the exterior of this gorgeous building – enhancing its overall aesthetic appearance, while preserving its unique character.
Our team completed extensive surface preparation, in order to ensure a high-quality and long-lasting finish for this incredible attraction, which is nestled within the grounds of West Midlands Safari Park. The grounds themselves were originally landscaped by the famed Capability Brown.
Our operatives began by removing loose and defective coatings, sanding all surfaces until smooth. We also completed the required repairs to damaged render areas, as well as carrying out localised timber repairs to window frames and joinery. The repaired timber surfaces were then primed, ready to be coated with the necessary undercoat and gloss systems.
Two coats of Dulux Weathershield All Weather Protection Smooth Masonry Paint was applied to the relevant areas in Gardenia or Gentle Fawn. These colour choices ensured that Spring Grove House remained era-appropriate and aesthetically pleasing.
The completed refurbishment has significantly improved the appearance of Spring Grove House, while also providing long-term protection against the elements.
This entire project was delivered safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption to the park’s operations, all within just six weeks. The Managing Director and Head of Creative at West Midlands Safari Park commented:
“We are very happy with the completed works at Spring Grove House, as well as the work carried out within Dino Diner. The Contracts Manager and painting operatives maintained excellent cleanliness standards throughout the project and delivered a high-quality finish.”
We’re thrilled to have contributed to the upkeep of this historic building! If you have your own historic property that you would like our help maintaining, please give us a call on 01274 714 800 or contact your local branch.
