Meet Demi Stott: Apprentice Administrator

Demi has recently started her marketing apprenticeship with Bagnalls and is showing great enthusiasm and talent when it comes to her role. We catch up with her to find out more about the start of her career journey.

What first attracted you to Bagnalls?

Demi: I really like the fact that Bagnalls is willing to give people a chance, especially as someone starting out in my career. I had no experience going into this role, but Bagnalls saw my passion, and now I have the chance to show my full potential.

Bagnalls’ commitment to apprenticeships also stood out to me. Since joining Bagnalls, I have never been made to feel different or singled out because I’m an apprentice. The family business ethos and values are definitely communicated through everyone that works at Bagnalls.

What is your favourite part of your current role?

Demi: I love that no two days are the same, and I always have a variety of tasks to conduct. I enjoy getting to know the different colleagues I work with across a variety of Bagnalls branches, as well as communicating with external suppliers and building key relationships.

What is your biggest achievement at Bagnalls?

Demi: Now that I am halfway through my apprenticeship with Bagnalls, I can see my own progression when it comes to different aspects of the job. Reflecting on my day-to-day tasks, I can see how much I have learnt and how far I have come since joining the company. I feel a real sense of achievement and I’m able to take on new tasks with ease and receive positive feedback.

How do you see your career at Bagnalls developing?

Demi: I see a long-term future ahead of me with Bagnalls. Working across different departments within the company will allow me to deliver a variety of tasks and provide support to multiple colleagues. I’m excited about the development of my future career as part of the Bagnalls family!

What’s the best piece of career advice you have ever received?

Demi: To always find the time to focus on my coursework. Completing my coursework to a high standard has allowed me to progress well with my apprenticeship, and my dedication is reflected in my growing ability to carry out a variety of tasks.

What is your favourite part of your apprenticeship?

Demi: I love being able to progress as a Business Administrator, growing my understanding through a range of different courses. I believe my apprenticeship is shaping my career at Bagnalls, helping me to develop a greater knowledge of my weaker areas and benefitting me within my current role.

What first attracted you to marketing?

Demi: I really like the variety of tasks that are involved, such as social media, merchandising and creating a consistent message.

Have you worked for a family business before?

Demi: No, but I am happy to have found Bagnalls! Everyone within the company takes such pride in being part of a family business, and it’s lovely to work with colleagues who respect the Bagnalls values and help create that family feeling.

Does your apprenticeship give you scope to be creative and bring new ideas to the table?

Demi: The learning opportunities offered during my apprenticeship allow me to create and share new ideas with my colleagues. I also have the opportunity to demonstrate my commitment to continuous learning.
