Bagnalls undertook the painting works for Vinci Construction/Taylor Woodrow as part of a £60 million refurbishment scheme at Nottingham Hub Railway Station.

This specialist painting project involved Bagnalls undertaking a wide range of industrial and decorative painting works across the station. Most notably, were the works to the porte-cochère (main entrance hall), where trained Bagnalls painters prepared the steelwork by ultra-high pressure water jetting followed by the application of a four coat specialist paint system.

A team of over 20 directly employed painters, led by a dedicated Site Supervisor worked tirelessly to ensure the works were completed on time and to Network Rail specifications. Bagnalls received four awards for the team’s ongoing commitment to health and safety during the project.

A representative from Taylor Woodrow said “Bagnalls carried out extensive painting and decoration work at Nottingham Station for Taylor Woodrow. This included the jet blasting and re-painting of the 110-year-old steel roof trusses in the historic porte-cochère at the station entrance. Bagnalls were able to offer a number of services from specialist work in the rail environment, achieving high-quality finishes in new and refurbished public concourses, offices and station staff areas through to the sympathetic decoration in areas of high heritage value.  They were responsive and proactive when resource levels needed to increase to meet the project’s key deadlines. The quality of the Supervision and Contract Management was excellent throughout the works.  The attitude to Safety was first class and Bagnalls provided a real example to other subcontractors.”

Bagnalls won the annual Painting & Decorating Association’s Industrial category for the complexity and quality of the finished project.
