Our National Apprenticeship and Skills Awards Success!
25 October 2024
Bagnalls is thrilled to announce that we have been ‘Highly Commended’ for our apprenticeship scheme for the second successive year at the National Apprenticeship and Skills Awards 2024. We saw success in the Large Employer category, within the Yorkshire and Humber regional heats.
Our Group Managing Director, Stephen Bagnall, said: “It’s a wonderful honour to receive the ‘Highly Commended’ title for the second year running. We’re extremely proud of the work we do at Bagnalls to support our apprentices and furnish them with the skills required to succeed in their chosen careers. To have this provision independently recognised means a great deal to all of us.”
Bagnalls was one of more than 1,300 entries to this year’s competition – the 21st anniversary of the awards themselves. Other household names, such as Royal Mail, Aviva and Marston’s Brewery, were among the entries from across the UK, with Jet2.com named the overall winner of our heat.
The judging panel consider various factors when selecting the winners, including recruitment excellence, high-quality training practices, diversity and career progression. We’re so pleased that the judging panel recognised our efforts in supporting the young talent we’re lucky enough to be able to champion here at Bagnalls.
Speaking of young talent: Max Rollinson – one of our Management Trainee apprentices at our York branch – also saw incredible success at the ceremony, winning The Lloyds Banking Group Rising Star of the Year Award!
Max completed Level Two and Three Painting and Decorating apprenticeships with us, before completing his Level Four Construction Site Supervisor apprenticeship earlier this year. His fantastic win at the regional ceremony means Max will go forward to the national finals this November!
Ellie Jobes, HR Director at Bagnalls, commented: “It’s fantastic to see Max have his talents recognised and rewarded. He is an exemplary Management Trainee and we are thrilled to have him as part of our team. Congratulations, Max – and good luck for the finals. The whole Bagnalls family is cheering you on!”
The National Apprenticeship and Skills Awards 2024 are designed to reward the achievements of exceptional apprentices, T-Level students and skills champions, as well as apprenticeship and T-Level employers. Apprentices like Max prove they have gone above and beyond to make a difference during their studies, while Bagnalls have proven that, as an employer, we work to champion skills and nurture young talent.
A huge well done to the whole Bagnalls family for the hard work and dedication you all show each and every day – we’re more excited than ever about our 150th anniversary next year!
