Sector Spotlight | Healthcare: Willesden Hospital

OCS, one of the UK’s leading facilities management providers, appointed Bagnalls’ National Painting Division to centrally manage the painting and decorating works at Willesden Hospital (part of the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust) in London. The project was delivered by our London branch, transforming a dated and tired interior into a contemporary, refreshed space.
We understand that working within the healthcare sector requires careful planning and consideration to patients, staff and visitors. Therefore, to minimise disruption of essential day to day operations, we carried out the majority of painting and decorating work during the night. This meant that essential health services could continue uninterrupted.
We undertook a complete refurbishment, including painting and redecoration of the main hall, stairways and café area within the hospital. The previous light brown colour scheme was replaced with a brighter, more modern finish, creating a more welcoming environment for patients, visitors and medical staff alike.
Access towers were used to safely complete all works within the higher-level hall and the stairwell areas. This also ensured a consistent finish across all areas of the building.
Our redecoration included extensive surface preparation, ensuring a high-quality finish. Every relevant surface was thoroughly sanded and prepped, before receiving an undercoat. This was then followed by a coating of Dulux Diamond Eggshell, in line with the newly specified colour scheme chosen for the hospital.
Our London branch team was able to complete this entire project within the specified timeline of just two weeks, significantly enhancing the appearance of the internal spaces. This is particularly evident in the updated colour palette, which has created a fresher, brighter environment that better reflects the high standards expected within a modern healthcare facility.
