Bagnalls Redecorates 4-Star Hotel in Historic York

Our Leeds branch recently had the pleasure of redecorating The Milner Hotel, a beautiful 4-star establishment in the historic city of York. It was wonderful to work on such a gorgeous building.
Bagnalls’ Contracts Manager, Max Rollinson, led our team of experienced painters and decorators throughout this project. The team prepared and redecorated the substrates across multiple guest bedrooms and communal areas throughout the hotel, including corridors, bar areas, entrance lobbies, meeting rooms and more.
Max and his team began by scraping down all surfaces to remove any loose or flaking paint. Holes and cracks were filled out and abraded down to ensure that the final finish achieved was smooth and even.
By utilising tower scaffolding, our skilled operatives were able to reach the high-level ceilings in the reception, bar and lounge areas. All ceilings were refreshed using Dulux Vinyl Matt, while the walls received two coats of Dulux Diamond Matt.
We also carried out redecoration work in the hotel bathrooms, which were painted in Dulux Sterishield Diamond Eggshell. This water-based coating is not only quick-drying but also contains a bactericide that reduces the population of bacteria, helping to maintain high standards of hygiene.
All paint colours chosen and applied were selected to match the existing colour palette of the hotel, enhancing its style and sophistication.
The whole project took six months to complete, spanning from March until September. Thanks to the flexible approach of our team members, we were able to carry out the majority of the work on communal areas during night shifts. This reduced the disruption to hotel guests and allowed for the smooth functioning of the hotel’s main areas during the day.
This method of working also allowed us to ensure the safety of both guests and staff, which remained paramount throughout the project.
Due to the hotel management’s positive reaction to our work, Bagnall was actually given more redecoration and painting tasks to do while on site. We love to know that our customers are pleased with our work and see the potential to turn one job into multiple!
