Silver Facelift for the Jubilee Celebrations

When passing through Hull, you may have seen the 75-metre long, white wind turbine blade situated outside the Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy factory, in Hull. For the Jubilee celebrations, the manufacturer decided to honour the occasion by having it cleaned and then re-painted in a light grey. Bagnalls were commissioned to undertake the painting works to a PPG specification, having worked previously on site. The tip of the blade is 5 metres from the ground and was accessed using mobile platforms, operated by Bagnalls’ trained painters. The project was commissioned in May and took just 4 days to complete.

Once finished, the newly painted 25-tonne blade was lit up in the colours of the Union Jack during the Jubilee weekend celebrations.
