Tittesworth Water Visitor Car Park

22 January 2024

As part of our ongoing framework agreement with Severn Trent Water (STW) our Ripley Minor Civils team were instructed to undertake works to alter, extend, and improve an existing parking facility at Tittesworth Water Visitor Centre, a popular public access site in Leek, Staffordshire.

As Principal Contractor we managed the delivery of the project utilising our approved specialist subcontractors to complete the project in 12 weeks, overcoming challenging weather conditions and deadlines to ensure the car park was fully operational prior to the busy spring holidays.

The existing car park construction was made up of plastic grid with gravel infill that did not provide suitably organised or defined parking facilities. Works were therefore required as per the client’s design to excavate the existing surface to an area of 3500m2, installed and connected new filter drainage to the perimeter of the car park consisting of manholes, oil / petrol interceptor and outfall pipework that then discharged into the reservoir on site.

On completion of the new filter drainage, we then laid the sub-base and the new road surface finishing off with line marking to demark parking bays, one way system and provision for a bus stop. The finished car park now provides a much more welcoming and safer environment to the visitor centre.
