Utilities Reinstatement Works
15 November 2016
The Minor Civils division of Bagnalls support the Bagnalls’ site painting teams on utilities’ contracts nationally, by undertaking excavation and reinstatement works around pipeline risers.
The contracts require our painting teams to apply specialist coatings to above ground gas supply pipes at sites around the country. The work includes excavating around the pipes to a specified depth, to gain clear access to each pipe (riser) so that they can be grit blasted, prepared and have new protective coatings applied. The excavations are then reinstated with a sand box, incorporating a “Geogrid” to prevent damage from burrowing rabbits and vermin. This is undertaken in compliance with an agreed specification which will protect the assets and allow easy access in the future, when required.
As principal contractor, we programme works effectively so that the minor civils team maintains a constant supply of prepared excavations and reinstatements to allow the painting work to progress smoothly and cost effectively.
Due to the many constraints required, when working close to utility assets, specialist tools and bespoke teams are trained and used. Our competent and experienced site teams reinstate sand boxes to the client’s specification, reassuring them that Bagnalls are fully aware and capable of meeting their high site standards.
