Bagnalls Investment in Apprentices
Leeds University Testimonial
Our experienced management and site teams ensure that painting works are delivered to the specified quality and within your time deadline. Our audited systems assure you that works are undertaken to the highest levels of safety and environmental requirements.
We dedicate the right team to each and every job, making sure through the Reset Competence Management system that each individual assigned to your project has the required competences to deliver the works, including PTS (Personal Track Safety) for rail work and IPAF licences for working off mobile elevated work platforms.
As the only national painting contractor fully signed up to the Reset Certification Scheme we are able to specify and confirm to you who will be working on your site prior to any paint being applied. You will be able to verify that our painters are directly employed by Bagnalls and view their training certificates, demonstrating our commitment to their ongoing development.
Bagnalls has provided first class painting services for over 135 years. We have an established and leading reputation in the industry and our focus on customer care has ensured that we deliver the services customers want year in, year out.
The painting services provided by Bagnalls include redecoration, interior and exterior painting and various specialist coating works to protect steel, provide hygienic environments and offer flame retardant qualities.
Demand for painting services is highly seasonal with demand peaking in the summer months when many customers require the externals of their properties to be maintained. Bagnalls balances this peak demand with internal and limited external works being carried out in the autumn and winter months in order to provide consistent teams of directly employed painters throughout the year.
Many customers are now taking advantage of Bagnalls multi-site painting facility which delivers painting services to customers with a nationwide presence, most notably, housing associations, retail and leisure businesses.
Bagnalls has undertaken numerous office refurbishment projects over the years. We manage the whole decoration process for the customer, from out of hours working and security to the use of low odour paints so that personnel are not affected by smells the following day. We ensure that the correct specification of paint is chosen for life cycle maintenance, budgets and required levels of wear and tear. No two office refurbishment projects are the same and we will deliver a bespoke painting and decorating service to meet your requirements.
We receive specialist technical support from the leading paint manufacturers on the most suitable coatings for communal areas such as stairwells and corridors, in line with RRFSO: the Regulatory Reform [Fire Safety] Order which came into effect in 2006. This legislation confirms a duty on owners, managers of buildings and employers to carry out fire risk assessments. During the specification process we will work together with the chosen paint manufacturer to provide you with the most suitable products to reinstate sound surfaces to Class ’0′. This then allows the occupants, residents or employees in the building more time to get out in the case of a fire.
Building refurbishment projects can also be done where more than just painting, decorating and specialist coating work is required. We project manage the refurbishment project and with the support of carefully vetted subcontract partners we carry out the full spectrum of works.
We also undertake refurbishment work in the Retail sector and completed a very successful programme of works for Somerfield Supermarkets, through our Special projects Division. We managed the painting programme in over 900 stores. In the past, Somerfield have managed decorating projects on a store-by-store basis. This time round, to achieve economies of scale and ensure the same high standards throughout, they wanted to use a single company that could carry out all the work across the entire country and they chose Bagnalls.
Decorative painting offers customers a whole host of opportunities for improving the environment in which they work, live and relax. The range of talents required by decorators is vast and developments in painting services such as spray painting and the use of eco-friendly paints must be embraced by a forward thinking painting contractor. Painting & decorating is a highly skilled job and many of Bagnalls’ personnel have undergone a 4 year apprenticeship to achieve the high standards required by the industry to become craftsmen painter and decorators.
Colour experts have evaluated the effect colour has on an environment and how calming pastels affect the mood of a person quite differently to vibrant reds and greens. Therefore, many of the leading paint manufacturers have now developed colour palettes for interior painting which are aimed at improving staff motivation in the workplace, encouraging children to learn, making people socialise more and allowing people to relax in a tranquil environment.
With expert advice decorative painting can revitalise an existing building by using a range of bold but inspirational colours. Making the right choice of contemporary colours such as fuscia and burgundy, results in making foyers of large buildings such as schools and offices both dramatic and welcoming. This has led architects to play a more prominent role in not only the design of the building but also the interior painting schemes of a new build project.
Furthermore, many architects and designers are now working closely with the leading paint manufacturers and painting contractors such as Bagnalls to comply with the DDA regulations by developing decorative painting colour palettes to help with ‘way finding’. Interior painting is a very cost effective way of helping people with visual impairments find their way around hospitals, schools and other public facilities.
No matter what painting & decorating services are required by our customers we are able to source the most suitable products to meet their needs that is how we successfully work as painters and decorators for such a diverse range of customers from the National Trust and the British Museum to Severn Trent Water and National Grid.
Bagnalls is well known for being one of the longest established Commercial Painters, undertaking redecoration works in all commercial and retail environments. We undertake commercial painting for many customers, including the University of Leeds, Lord’s Cricket Ground, National Grid and the British Museum. We have packaged our commercial painting services in bespoke ways to meet the distinct needs of our customers with wallpaper selections, specialist paint finishes and spray paint options.
We know that the final finish and feel we leave our customer’s premises with, is the FIRST thing that their customers see! So our Special Projects division has been set up to meet the needs of retail, leisure and commercial customers who have to maintain a professional public image at all times.
Through our trade partnerships with the major paint manufacturers and specialist independents we are able to evaluate the most effective commercial painting options for high traffic areas, flame retardance and light reflection as well as products designed to reduce your carbon footprint. Then we consider the most appropriate method of application from brush, roller or spray paint options, taking into consideration the environment in which we are working and the coverage required.
We are quite unique in the commercial painting industry as we directly employ all our painting personnel and operate out of 17 branch locations across the UK. This element of geographical coverage and trained personnel allows us to control our service provision much more effectively than contractors who subcontract out the labour element. This differentiates us from a number of commercial painters and gives our customers confidence in our ability to manage projects to time, quality and specification.
