Monks Cross Shopping Park

02 September 2016

Bagnalls were asked to deliver a programme of decorative maintenance to the high level structural steelwork on the front elevations at Monks Cross Shopping Park.

Bagnalls worked with supply chain partner Dulux to determine the most suitable product for the steelwork, and therefore the Dulux Metalshield system was chosen.

The centre was originally built by Richardson Developments in 1997-98 and still has a very modern feel.  It boasts some of the most well-known retailers in the UK including Argos and TK Maxx and as such receives high volumes of traffic on a daily basis.

One of the main challenges we faced was ensuring the protection of the general public and their vehicles from the positioning of our mobile elevated work platform (MEWP), as the car parks  had to remain fully operational for the duration of the contract.  However, with careful planning and using a combination of extendable barriers, cones, taping and a banksman Bagnalls ensured the safe passage of both foot and vehicle traffic.

In addition, we only undertook the painting works to the areas above the shop entrances before the shops opened and after the shops closed, to ensure that the day-to-day operation of the stores were not disrupted.
