Bagnalls Takes on Internal Decorating Contract for G Live Theatre

Bagnalls was recently awarded the internal decorative maintenance contract for G Live theatre in Guildford. Our team has seen previous success with similar projects and venues, making us a great choice for G Live’s front of house maintenance work.

The project included a refresh for the main atrium, staircases, corridors, café and bar area. It took our team of five experienced painters and decorators only four weeks to complete our work to the usual high standard.

The interesting design and height of the atrium area meant that some sections were especially hard to reach. Therefore, we employed different access methods – from mobile towers to a spider boom, which was used to gain access to the highest aspects of the main atrium.

A key challenge of this particular project was that we had to deliver the work during the day, with the venue remaining open to the public – including school trips – throughout.

In order to ensure safe access and egress for our team, as well as a safe space for visitors, we liaised very closely with the venue management staff. Our team implemented clear segregation of work areas, while also ensuring awareness of bookings and busy times.

The paint specification was a combination of Dulux Diamond Matt and Vinyl Matt. This paint specification was used predominantly in low-level areas, where scuffs and damage are likely to occur. This is because it can be touched up without leaving visible patches to the finish. The most hard-wearing areas were finished in gloss.
