Leicester City Council

08 September 2016

Bagnalls has delivered painting, decorating and specialist coatings works to Leicester City Council for many years.  Our range of works ranges from painting in schools, local infrastructure, public buildings and car parks.

No two projects are the same and each one is individually managed and planned for by a competent contracts manager, overseeing a skilled team of site personnel.

When commissioned to paint the former Great Western Bridge, we worked to a Highways specification detailing Protega epoxy coatings.   A fully encapsulated scaffold was erected to both sides of the parapet to enable the safe preparation and coating of all surfaces whilst ensuring no debris entered the canal below.  All existing coatings were removed by grit blasting by our specially trained operatives.

The work was completed during one of the worst winters on record, so dew point and other temperature tests were regularly taken prior to application of all paint coatings.  All test readings were recorded within the site paperwork. Although the bridge is no longer in commission, Leicester City Council have landscaped what was the main walkway in order to attract wildlife to the area, hence, its more colloquial name – The Nature Bridge.
