Nathan Broxholme of Bagnalls Doncaster proved he is the best in his field by taking home WorldSkills UK Gold in the Painting and Decorating category at the national final of the UK’s biggest construction skills competition – SkillBuild 2010. The competition took place between the 8 – 10 September and was hosted by Coleg Menai in Llangefni, North Wales. The event is also the Crown Trade Apprentice Decorator of the Year Competition, sponsored by Crown Paints Limited, the largest independent paint manufacturer in the UK. To go with his new title of Crown Trade Apprentice Decorator of the Year 2010, Nathan was presented with a trophy and a cheque for £1000 by LizHickson, Marketing Director at Crown Paints.
Nathan, 23, who attends York College and works as an apprentice at Bagnalls, said: “It feels fantastic to have won a medal at the UK final of SkillBuild and to be named as one of the best construction trainees in the country. The competition at this level is so fierce, so to come out on top and demonstrate the expert skill and experience I have attained is amazing.”
Nathan and other eligible outstanding competitors from this year’s competition have been put forward for the selection process to represent the UK at the next international WorldSkills Competition when it comes to ExCeL in London on 5-8 October 2011.
